The Summerville Parks Foundation, in partnership with the Summerville Parks & Recreation Department, hosted a hopping good time on April 12th at the Berlin Bunny Bike & Walk event! With 286 enthusiastic registrants, this festive community gathering celebrated the upcoming grand opening of the Berlin G. Myers Parkway extension, set to open later this year.
Before the start, the event site buzzed with family-friendly activities. Attendees enjoyed Easter-themed cutouts perfect for photos, egg relay games, jelly bean guessing fun, and classic lawn games like Connect Four and Jenga. Informational booths by Summerville Parks & Recreation and Bike/Walk Summerville added to the experience, sharing valuable information on community wellness and upcoming events and programs.
Starting at Luden Drive, participants of all ages came ready to walk, run, or bike the 1.5-mile route to the overpass and back. Along the way, golden eggs dotted the trail adding to the scenic journey. At the turnaround point, participants were treated to a special photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny and a charming cutout of the iconic Summerville arch. Thanks to Summerville DREAM, everyone was treated to Easter-themed donuts at the finish line, capping off the event with a sweet treat.
This event would not have been possible without the generous support and coordination of our community partners. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Summerville Parks & Recreation, SCDOT, the boy scouts, Harris Teeter, Coastal Coffee, and Summerville DREAM for helping make the Berlin Bunny Bike & Walk an amazing success.
Stay tuned for more exciting events from the Summerville Parks Foundation as we continue to enhance Summerville through people, parks, and programs!
